Dads for Life
Launched in 2009, Dads for Life is a movement in Singapore that seeks to inspire, mobilise and involve fathers into becoming positive influences in their children’s lives. It is an initiative by the Centre for Fathering, a non-profit organisation established in 2001.
Global Village for Hope
Global Village for Hope is a Singapore-registered philanthropic foundation dedicated to providing education support to children in Myanmar, with the help of local partners. Since 2014, it has supported more than 350 children in 21 foster homes on the outskirts of Yangon and in Chin State.
Cactus Foundation
Since it was founded in 2013, Cactus Foundation has reached out to over 120,000 children with its awareness programmes on sexual abuse, powered by a team of dedicated volunteers. It works with government schools to conduct these programmes, and also provides training for teaching staff.
NeW-I
NeW-I, or Narrative e-Writing Intervention, is a cyber-counselling app for parents of children with chronic and life-threatening conditions, developed by a team from Nanyang Technological University. Over four weeks, participants pen their thoughts on the app, which helps them reflect on their caregiving journey and process their emotions with input from a counsellor. Their entries are compiled into an illustrated “legacy book” at the end of the exercise, which is intended to provide solace after their child’s passing. The app is being implemented as a pilot funded by Temasek Foundation under its SMF Research Grant Programme.
Azad Foundation
Based in Delhi, Azad Foundation is an NGO advocating for gender justice and women empowerment by ensuring women’s access to non-traditional livelihoods, namely driving. Working mainly with underprivileged women through its Women with Wheels programme, it trains women not only in driving skills, but also teaches them about their rights and gender equality. It also has leadership programmes for women, as well as a Men for Gender Justice initiative to engage men on gender equality issues. Over the years, Azad has reached more than 600,000 women and families through its outreach work, and helped over 1,000 women find work as drivers through its social enterprise, Sakha Consulting Wings.
Manav Foundation
Manav Foundation is a Mumbai-based non-profit offering low-cost treatment and rehabilitative services for people with mental illnesses, such as counselling and various types of therapy like art and animal therapy. Started in 2005, it also offers counselling and monthly support group sessions called Sahyog for caregivers of people with mental illness. As of 2020, it has provided care to some 1,300 people with mental illnesses and their caregivers.
